I don’t get too much “hate” mail. If people have a problem with the site they would e-mail me with class and I like classy e-mails. Unfortunately you get the occasional dumbo who posts with emotion or nonsense rather than thought. I think we’re all guilty of it at times but I decided to show people what bad adaab really looks like. I have removed the names to avoid backbiting and made them “generally dumb e-mails”.

The first article i sore was anoying habbits in sallah that was good and funny but from then on it started getting worse. for e.g. you have racism going on in your chat room on arabs when the prophet him self was an arab, now you could say it is a joke but to arabs it is very haram, in the quran it says ‘no arab has power over the non-arab, and no non-arab has power over the arab’.secondly, you mock women when in the quran it clearly states men and women are equal.ma salama

Actually, the biggest mockery to Islam are unintelligent Muslims who have not mastered the ability of “keyboarding”. Bad keyboarding is a Bad Dawah Tactic. If I was on brink of converting to Islam and I saw someone type something like “HeY JoHNny, WhAt woUld YoU LiKE 2 KnOW AbOUt IsLAm?”, I’d scream and convert to Rastafarianism or something.
Doesn’t it require MORE effort to capitalize every other letter? I’m sure if the shift key was able to convery its feelings, it would tell you that it does not like being pressed up and down after every letter. How would you feel like being pushed up and down by a giant finger after every syllable you speak? I thought so. Either type in all lower cases like a lazy bum, all CAPITAL LETTERS like a screaming khateeb or do something that most of the literate world should do: write properly. Yes, my site is loaded with Masonic texts and if you take the amount of letters in my name (6), multiply it by the amount of hours it took you to write that e-mail (4), mutliply by the amount of sale on sneakers at Wal-Mart (50%), divide by 4 (I like that number) and you’ll get a number that probably means something incredibly evil in Masonic texts … just like every other number. Also if you stare closely at the Maniac Muslim logo, you’ll see several symbols for the numbers 13, 2, 123, -1 and 3.14159 … all incredibly evil stuff. Anyway, your e-mail makes no sense and by calling me a non-Muslim you’re really screwing up your chances on the Day of Judgment. Imagine having all the right stuff to go to Heaven then you realize it’s all gone to flush because you judged somebody’s iman and played the role of Allah (SWT) on earth? in all honesty i think ur site does have a point and a message behind it. of course dawa is the prominent purpose. however, in this article you replied very rudely at times to those who were rude. two wrongs dont make a right. some people were not necessarily attacking you, or even purposefully not following “adaab” rules, they were merely expressing opinioins. i think you should probably be a little more understanding and a little less … mean i guess. as for the stuff about making fun of people in your articles, i dont think you mean to make fun of people as much as wanting to communicate across a point or a message. regardless, easy it up a little bit. not all of us are open to that kind of humour. you are indeed funny, just try to understand the reader’s side of the situation and take into consideration their perspectives.
this is simply advice that i hope would guide you in future articles and whatnots. i dont mean to critisize.

You’re doing an excellent job, and young Muslim students like myself love having a site like this around when they want to have a random laugh when they’re bored (or procrastinating). We DON’T judge the site as a knowledgable resource, but rather a place you COULD find something inspiring as well as funny (if you wanted to).

HAHA! It really sounds stupid and boring when people chastise you here for being racist or sexist! And why are girls taking offence to some of these articles. Sometimes, you should enjoy being the laughing stock. Especially hate it when some Muslims think they have some sort of copyright on Muslims and so no one can make ‘fun of Muslims’.
Gosh! It’s just humour based on things that actually do happen. And it’s ridiculously funny.
I remember seeing a girl in a scarf, sleeveless top and bermuda’s. And I remember being hit on by a guy like this: “I would like to be your friend -InshAllah- You are pretty - MashAllah - May Allah shower blessings on you! Take Care Bye! Reply soon!” And there’s no lack of border-line paedophile “Maulvi’s” and flirty Imam’s. If you can’t admit weird Muslims in mental asylums to fix them up, the least we can do is shame them into the ‘light’ by making fun of them. And, its funny.
If anything, Maniac Muslim is helping clean the religions image by making crazy Muslims the butt of all jokes.

I don’t get it? Why are some Muslims so sensitive to this kind of humour, which is, by the bye, based mostly on reality?
It’s okay to chant “Death to XYZ”, but some classic sarcastic humour is a bit too much and apparently we have to be ‘less mean’ and take the ‘reader’s perspective’ into account and be ’sensitive’ to their ‘feelings’? Lol… If you want to stop being generalised then stop assuming you’re the butt of ALL the jokes. It’s the ‘dumbos’ who’re the butt of all jokes here. We should be ‘jihading’ against them.

I believe a lot of what you say gets lost in translation by some of these haters. And its true too that non-Muslims viewing this site can completely misconstrue Islam and it’s people. BUT, you do a great job in putting up a mirror in front of the Ummah. We have to laugh at ourselves sometimes. And as a female, I’m not offended by what you say about our gender, unfortunately, some of it is true. Keep up the great job. Your stuff is just TOO funny!

I usually leave the commenting to others and just quietly enjoy this site but seeing the ridiculously far-fetched criticism aired here, a few thoughts came to mind that i just had to voice.
Firstly, the muslim youth definitely need someone like Hamzah. Straightforward lecturing, ‘reading books’ and sweet ol’ tableegh sadly isn’t cutting it anymore. the reason is simple. young people today just don’t have that kind of patience, there are now so many things jostling for their attention that deen gets bumped right down the list, and sometimes just off it. The sheer hilarity of Hamzahs sketches ensures even the ‘too cool for school’ muslim ‘yoofs’ keep on coming, and though they may not learn anything fiqh-wise, they are at least reminded there is something in their lives called Islam.
Second, the fact that seems to have completely eluded the criticizers is that everything that Hamzah points out is TRUE. Anger is understandable if the topics were a bit of a stretch, or if actual tenets of Islam were ridiculed rather than the dogdy ways people adhere to them, but thats not there. in fact, a closer look at the characters that are satired reveals that they are themselves guilty of making Islam a mockery by their bad habits. They should be outed. hopefully by reading a comedic version of themselves, they’ll realise where they are going wrong and amend themselves.
As to a non-muslims perception of Islam from this site, I believe nothing could be more effective as a dawah tool. The reason is simple, Islam is widely viewed as a strict, austere, difficult and extemely touchy religion. Hamzah’s site proves that not to be the case, whilst also clearly demarcating what can and cannot be joked about. Most non-Muslims may be aware of most of the odious behaviour’s scoffed at on the site, and are unable to see past them (hypocritical Hijabi’s, crazy khateebs, ruinous mosque antics and the somewhat strange mentality exhibited by some Muslims when it comes to ‘kafirs’). Showing that educated Muslims themselves are tired of these silly people, non-Muslims will feel relieved that any qualms they had about this deen was due to the wrong attitude of a few Muslims rather than the religion itself.
Bear in mind, Hamzah does not ridicule Islamic symbols, tenets, articles of faith, worship or anything else that is sacred, but only the wrongful actions committed by some when in ‘observance’ of them. For that delicacy, I applaud the Maniac.
I do have one big gripe though. Hamzah, you don’t post often enough!
