We all know of Barrister Rizwan Hussain from his over-whelming humanitarian aid work. He is a highly respected and admired figure in the Muslim community. His humble personality and open manner has made him a household favorite regardless of age or gender
Today (18th April 2008) as I watched the news I discovered to my horror, that he had been beaten and tortured in Dhaka Airport, Bangladesh, by the members of the Air Force (edit). I was outraged and incensed. How dare they do this to our beloved Rizwan, a beacon of light in today's society. How dare they do this to anyone?
His crime was to help an elderly lady with ticket problems and had walked into an area to talk to staff, that was out of bounds.
He was beaten for over 1 hour by 5 soldiers, his left arm broken as was one of his legs, his whole body battered and his back severely bruised. Threat of further attacks were made until he signed a declaration claiming that he was illegally trafficking humans and that he falsely claimed to be a Barrister. When he pleaded with them for water, they threw it over the floor and told him to drink it from the ground.
Working alongside Muslim Aid, he was helping regenerate the areas of Bangladesh devastated by Cyclone Sidr, hence his regular visits there.
This is sickening, I want to see those people that did this to him come to justice. I want them to lose their jobs and sent to prison.
Join this group, get everyone you know to join! Lets make our voice heard. This has got to stop. I will be keeping this updated as and when I hear anything!

He has returned safely back to London and given a public statement
INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS. INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS. INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS. INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
To enable even the smallest chance of justice occurring a independent investigation needs to take place.I have created a group. If we can get 100,000 (or more) people in here. This could act as significant online pressure and raise awareness in the general public domain.
This is a real opportunity to make change happen. Let us harness the voice of the international community and place pressure on the Bangladeshi government to create tighter regulations and laws, so that this will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS. INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS. INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS.
JUST MAKE DUA FOR HIM INSHALLAH
